CE-SEA

Community Energy from Solar Envelope Architecture
CE-SEA is a R&D project for the development of an energy efficient modular façade system incorporating two innovative elements (CoPEG & HyPVT) which enable cost-effective building integrated heat and power generation to decarbonise community energy consumption.

Two new technologies

CoPEG

Concentrating Photovoltaic Evacuated Glazing

HyPVT

Hybrid PhotoVoltaic Thermal diode panel

Multifunctional façade glazing element for:

  • Solar electricity
  • Solar heat
  • Daylight control
  • Insulation
Multifunctional opaque façade element for:

  • Solar electricity
  • Solar heat
  • Thermal storage

Our objectives

1 – Prototypes

Scale up existing prototypes to showcase CE-SEA to construction industry stakeholders.
  • CoPEG
  • HyPVT

3 – Techno-economics & business models
Evaluate CE-SEA’s techno-economics to enable development of viable business models.
2 – Progress building integration design
Progress designs which enable effective building integration and user interactions:
  • Architectural concepts
  • Building services engineering.

4 – Secure funding for next stage

Gain funding for a subsequent full scale demonstrator project.
